How are we different
We help our residents in obtaining long-term recovery and independence in a different way than most transitional living environments. We are family and families not only lean on each other for support, but they respect and honor one another. We are less structured than most, but we focus on the individual and their needs, as well as, help them build good habits. We do this by teaching and reminding them who they are in Jesus Christ. We believe apart from Him there cannot be transformation, which we believe is much more beneficial than simply trying to be good. When an individual experiences the love of Jesus Christ through His word and those he is surrounded with, he understands his own value and this goes a long way to lasting change. We look at each individual, what skills they have, what skills or things they need, (i.e.) drivers license, work history, legal help, GED, and then work with them to achieve their goals while helping them learn responsibility, accountability and beneficial life skills.
Who we invite
At this time, New Creations is available for adult males only. Potential residents are evaluated by several current residents, as well as the administrator, to see what their motives and goals are and if they seem to have a real desire to live sober and take part in the programs we attend. This is not just a room with cheap rent; there are expectations to live in New Creations. These expectations are given up front and include attending church, Celebrate Recovery meetings, group Bible study, obtaining and maintaining a job, keeping current on rent, being willing to take random drug tests, be accountable for their whereabouts at all times, as well as, remaining drug and alcohol free. Residents are able to have their own vehicle and are not “trapped” in the home when not working. We believe there needs to be freedom, which includes freedom to make choices like those they will need to make post New Creations TLM. We believe success in the real world has to begin while they live with us. This means a little more freedom than other transitional living facilities give. If residents are not allowed to make choices then we would hardly be any different than the programs they come to us from and in our opinion, that isn’t really a transition.
Why it works
We know that to obtain real life changing results it has to be the desire of the resident himself and through the help of the Holy Spirit. We create the environment, and provide the opportunities, mentoring and encouragement to empower each resident to begin to access that internal motivation that will help them accomplish their goals and transition into life long recovery.
